What Will the Apprentice Be Doing?
Duties will include, but will not be limited to:
Minimize wastage and loss to business
Contribute to reviewing and refreshing menus in line with business and customer requirements
Use a range of craft preparation and basic cooking skills and techniques to prepare, cook and finish dishes and menu items
Ensure portion control
Ensure the presentation of the food and service is to the standard of the company.
Ensure excellence in cleanliness and standards across the operation
Report any issues maintenance or otherwise to H&S manager
Ensuring the food preparation areas are clean and hygienic
Washing utensils and dishes and making sure they are stored appropriately
Sorting, storing and distributing ingredients
Washing, peeling, chopping, cutting and cooking foodstuffs and helping to prepare salads and desserts
Disposing of rubbish
Cleaning the food preparation equipment, floors and other kitchen tools or areas
What Training Will the Apprentice Take and What Qualification Will the Apprentice Get at the End?
The successful candidate will work towards achieving their Apprenticeship Standard in Commis Chef Level 2
A dedicated work-based trainer will be assigned to the candidate to provide them with support and guidance throughout the course. This is a predominently work-based programme with College attendance required once a month. All learning will take place at the candidate's place of employment/College and within their contracted working hours.
