Lincoln College was thrilled to host Your Future Careers Expo today. The distinctive event is designed to bring together students and local employers.
As an employer-led institution, this exciting opportunity provides a platform for young people to engage with businesses and organisations - allowing them to gain invaluable insight into different industries and start building their professional networks.
Mark Locking, Principal and CEO, said: "Our core purpose as an institution is to generate opportunities for learners to engage with employers, giving them the best insight into their careers as we support their journey to becoming extraordinary. We are delighted that 50 employers were present to get learners enthused."
The Future Careers Expo is an opportunity for employers to engage with the next generation of talent. With the chance to connect with students and discuss their needs and aspirations, employers can build relationships with potential future employees and gain an understanding of the talent pool in the local area.
Ben Faulkner, Production Manager at Pneu-Therm Limited and Alumni Lincoln College student, said: “I started my journey ten years ago as an apprentice at Lincoln College – apprenticeships are a great way to advance your career, there have been a lot of progression opportunities for me at Pneu-Therm.
“The Expo is a fantastic opportunity to connect with current students and to understand their aspirations and how they can fit into our business. We currently have one apprentice and look forward to expanding and hiring more.”
Oscar Lacey, a Level 3, Construction in Built Environment student at Lincoln College, said: “I was delighted to attend the Expo alongside my employer Galliford Try.
“Since starting my work placement as a site engineer, I have had access to expert training and am thoroughly enjoying my role. It was great to talk to fellow students and inspire them to think about their next steps.”
With experts on hand to answer questions and provide advice, students left the Expo feeling informed and empowered about their prospective career - distributing their CVs and having enlightening discussions with employers.
The Expo helped students make informed decisions about their future careers. By speaking to professionals and learning about different roles, students can gain an understanding of what they want to study and what skills and qualifications they will need to pursue their chosen career path.
