After a week of engaging with thousands of apprentices and local businesses, Dior Regan topped it off by scooping the Apprentice/Young Achiever of the Year award at the Greater Lincolnshire Construction and Property Awards 2023, hosted by the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce.

Lincoln College is pleased to participate in National Apprenticeship Week by celebrating the success stories of its apprentices. National Apprenticeship Week is a nationwide initiative aimed at raising awareness of the benefits of apprenticeships and showcasing the achievements of apprentices across the country.

At Lincoln College, apprenticeships have been a key aspect of the educational landscape for many years, providing students with a unique blend of on-the-job training and academic study.

This combination of hands-on experience and theoretical knowledge has helped many of our apprentices to thrive in their careers, making them some of the most sought-after employees in their respective fields.

Lincoln College and the Lindum Group Painting and Decorating Apprentice Dior Regan was a finalist – 1 of 8, at the National WorldSkills Final in November 2022.

Last week, Dior won Apprentice/ Young Achiever of the year at the Greater Lincolnshire Construction and Property Awards 2023, hosted by the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce.

Mark Locking, Principal and CEO of the Lincoln College Group, said: "What a fantastic achievement for our apprentice. It is students like Dior Regan that showcase our offering.

"We transform lives with highly innovative, expertly delivered and inclusive employer-designed programmes that perpetuate enjoyable, meaningful experiences to help them flourish.”

Samantha Ogg, a Level 2 Customer Service Apprentice at Camper UK, recently got promoted to a more senior role. She said: “I would highly recommend the apprenticeship scheme to anyone considering it – it has helped me to progress my skillset and mindset.”

Dean Hyde, Managing Director at Camper UK, said: “We find it difficult to recruit new staff. We now grow our own by working closely with Lincoln college, enabling us to get new people in, find fresh ideas and direct them to the right department.

“We are recruiting year on year – [we] are finding that working with Lincoln College, our business is becoming a better place.”

Enriching our curriculum, each department has impactful, employer-led workshops and lectures from industry leaders.

Nick Scott, a Level 3 Automotive Apprentice at Parkview, said: “We recently had an employer-led event where a few companies came in from all over the motor industry, such as Brembo, Varta, Schaeffler and Halfords. At the Varta workshop, there was a focus on the implementation of AGM batteries, which is great to support my industry knowledge.”

“No matter your age, I would encourage anyone to do an apprenticeship - I started my journey at 20, thinking I would be too old. I am only 23 and finishing this course.”

These are just a few of the many success stories of Lincoln College apprentices, and we are proud to be a part of their journey to extraordinary.

Apprenticeships are a great way for young people to gain real-world experience, build their skills, and develop their careers, and we are proud to play a role in that process.

We will take this opportunity to thank our apprentices for their hard work and dedication and encourage others to consider an apprenticeship as a pathway to success.
