Local students attended the Future First Expo at Newark Showground this week to raise their aspirations and discover future prospects. Newark College and the Air and Space Institute invited prospective students to discuss and explore exciting courses on offer through interactive activities.

Local students attended the Future First Expo at Newark Showground this week to raise their aspirations and discover future prospects. Newark College and the Air and Space Institute invited prospective students to discuss and explore exciting courses on offer through interactive activities. 

Penny Taylor MBE, Head of Newark Campuses, said: “Our Further Education programmes are a launchpad for students, bridging them to the professional world. We aim to empower individuals where they can explore and find their passions and ultimately shape their future.” 

Distinguished by providing hands-on, industry-relevant education, Newark College offers an array of full-time vocational programmes from Art & Design, Media and Carpentry & Joinery to Automotive and Hairdressing, each course is designed to align with the needs of local businesses. With curriculum delivery by industry experts, students find themselves immersed in modern workshops equipped with cutting-edge technology, ensuring they gain practical skills ready to be applied for future employment. 

The Air and Space Institute offers pathways into the Aviation and Space sector, ranging from Pilot training to Engineering, A Levels to Travel & Tourism. The innovative pathways provide students with unprecedented opportunities, including a flight simulator, a real aeroplane for hands-on learning, and a world-class Airbus A318 to hone their skills. 

The college extends its reach to embrace diverse talents, offering specialist and unique degree courses in Musical Instrument Crafts. With a choice of four pathways, Violin Making and Repair, Guitar Making and Repair, Woodwind Making and Repair, and Piano Tuning and Restoration, students can pursue the craft they love whilst gaining high-quality, practical skills from practicing professionals.  

Beyond the classroom, Newark College fosters an environment of independence, encouraging students to manage their studies and engage in enrichment activities. Each student is assigned a dedicated progress coach, guiding them through their academic journey, addressing challenges, and offering additional support. 

Newark College has a strong network of over 1,000 local companies, providing students with a direct gateway to apprenticeships. This unique connection empowers students to earn while gaining practical experience, creating a seamless transition from education to the professional world.
