Emma Green: "I have loved the whole apprenticeship experience and it's now time for the next step"

It's no secret that apprenticeships can be a fantastic start to a career, but with Lincoln College, an apprenticeship can be a life changing experience. We're sharing the success stories of some of our past and present students for National Apprenticeship Week 2022.

Lincoln College hairdressing apprentice Emma has gained full-time employment at Industry HQ, the company she worked for during her apprenticeship. We caught up with her to find out more about her training highlights with Lincoln College.

Hairdressing was new to Emma when she first enrolled on her Level 2 Hairdressing apprenticeship, but despite having no prior skills or experience in the area she was excited, focused and endeavoured to work hard.

“The best aspect of my apprenticeship has been becoming a stylist with an open mind and knowing it’s ok to ask for help if you’re unsure, instead of struggling alone,” she says.

“I’ve grown as a person and working with such a supportive team has been a great boost.”

Emma dedicated a lot of her own time to improve and develop. She was also a member of the Apprenticeship Council at Lincoln College, which enabled her to speak to other likeminded apprentices, on different pathways across the College.

Cheryl Webster, Emma’s hairdressing lecturer, is impressed with the commitment Emma showed towards her career. She said: “Emma is an inspiration to others and has the drive and ability to achieve whatever she requires in her hairdressing career”.

Emma achieved a distinction in her final EPA and is now enjoying her career with Industry HQ in Burton Waters.

She says: “I will continue to grow my skills and confidence after my apprenticeship to be the best stylist I can be.”
